If I Became Warhammer Online Producer

WAR Resurrection would be new Free RvR Pack to introduce F2P to Warhammer Online.

All current currency will be changed into one token system.  No more confusion.

Renown system revamp.  Earn RvR Spirits (1 pt per renown level) see Rift Souls for example

Servers are pvp race FFA.  It is no longer destro vs order.  Now each race can fight each other in Tier 5.  Now it is a six faction game to keep game balanced.

Each race now has access to each class from each faction.  You can now be a dwarf brightwizard.

City sieges removed from game.  Each city can now be invaded live (no instances).  Other missing cities added.

Scenarios removed from game completely.

Tier 4 caps at RR79, Tier 5 80-100

Remove diminishing returns on renown.  Equal distribution of renown to all group members in circle of renown.

RvR zones switched to AB style with keeps removed.  Must hold all 5 for 15 mins to lock zone.

No zone locking renown bonus.  Locking a zone now gives you temporarily 1 extra rvr spirit point, and takes away 1 rvr spirit point from losing race.

All rvr sets of armor removed from game

Introduce f2p cash shop.  no more crafting...all talismans, pots, etc purchasable in cash shop.

End game pvp set bought with new one token fits all currency system.

Goodbye Cataclysm

Today I unsubbed from World of Warcraft Cataclysm.  I just can't get back into the game no matter how hard I try.  It is like the definition of insanity of doing something over and over, and expecting different results.

Cataclysm didn't bring back the part of the game I wanted with all the new zones redone.  I am not sure why I thought all the old zones were going to be like 2004 again with players everywhere.  I miss that part, and why I am just going to wait on Rift to experience all the excitement of a new MMORPG, and the community that grows with the game.

I have my Collectors Edition of Rift ordered, and after playing the last couple betas it left me very unmotivated to continue in Warcraft.  I have no intention of playing both at the same time so why bother playing Cataclysm when Rift is right around the corner.

I will still hop on vent, and chitchat with Oak, Hedge, and Zezzle until Rift Headstart begins on February 24th.

How To Play Like A Noob

Are you wanting to learn how to play like a noob?  Are you dying to sign up for the Noob 101 class?   Do you die in pvp in three seconds?  If you answered yes to any of the previous questions than you are going to want to continue reading.

After my hiatus from World of Warcraft I have come back, and have been leveling up three characters basically at the same time.  I have my druid, warlock, and priest.  I alternate between them until they are all the same levels.  It sounds easy enough.

Tonight I finally leveled my druid to 24, and figured I would do some pvp.  I noticed when pvping with my lock, and priest that druids usually eat players alive.  I was ready to do some payback to some casters in Arathi Basin.  I start prowling, ravage, rake, maul, ferocious bite, and for some reason they are still basically at full health, and I am dead.

It just wasn't making sense.  How could it be that bad?  I kept doing it over, and over.  Each time it was basically the same result.  I would get no killing blow, and instead be dead.  I wouldn't even have a chance to heal myself I died so quickly.  I was really starting to get irritated.  It was to the point of breaking my keyboard in half.

Oak, Hedge, and Zezzle mention to look at the gear the other players were wearing, and see why I was unable to kill anyone.  I decided why not look at my own gear, and see if I could upgrade.

This is where I realized I was a total noob.  I guess between leveling three characters, playing rift beta, and so on I forgot to get gear.  My druid was half naked.  I had empty slots for all my rings, shoulders, and helm.  I look at my gear I am wearing, and all of it was item level 12 and below including my weapon.

I just don't quite understand how I went so many levels even in PvE without noticing how gimped out I was.  What a difference level 20+ gear, and weapon made.  It was like night, and day.  I can now rack up the killing blows in Arathi Basin.

The morale of the story is always be sure to check out your gear if you play multiple games, or characters because you could be running around basically naked, and playing like a total noob like me.

Why Buy Gold In Cataclysm?

After resubscribing to World of Warcraft for the Cataclysm expansion I don't see why anyone would have to buy gold.  My characters are making a ton of gold off some of the silliest things.  Who would even imagine some of the prices I have seen so far?

I have been selling stacks of Clam Meat for over 400g.  It is the same clam meat a few years ago was vendor trash.  Why is it so popular, and players willing to spend so much money on it?   Is there an end game recipe that needs it for Cooking?  Are players so rich in the game now that 400g is nothing?

I have been selling Wool for over 200g a stack.  Is wool that much in demand to level up tailoring that veteran players are willing to pay any price if it keeps them from having to farm it?  It is unbelievable.

Lastly I have been selling stacks of Light Leather for about 25g a stack.  Once again it is way overpriced for what it is.  I will just keep skinning, and selling.  I will be at gold cap without even trying.

I highly suggest the addon Auctioneer.  It will prevent you from ever selling something way cheaper than it is worth.  I plan on showing players how to use it very soon.  I just use the basics, and can still turn 5g into thousands of gold in 30 days.

Do You Remember When?

Since returning back to World of Warcraft, and playing Cataclysm I hear Do you remember when constantly.  It reminds me of family reunions, class reunions, old friends finding each other, and so on.  You are always looking back at the great times you had.

Some of them I have heard in Cataclysm since coming back...

Remember the world pvp in TM and SS.

Remember when AV's would last hours, or even days

Remember when AV had thousand of npc's

Remember the boss NPC's in AV

Remember turtling WSG for hours

Remember in beta

Remember pvp in the tram

Remember when you couldn't afford your mount at 40

Remember when Horde didn't have Pallies

Remember MC 40 mans

Remember mind controlling into the lava

Remember Fear before pvp trinkets

Remember when you could only wear pvp gear if you kept your rank every week

Remember trying to kill the king in IF.

Remember in beta how many times you ran Uldaman

Remember when there were only like five flight paths in the game

Remember when you had to run to Hillsbrad to queue for AV

Looking back I can say Cataclysm is nothing like World of Warcraft at release.  I think a book listing every patch note, and hotfix in chronological order would bring back so many memories.  What do you remember from the game 5-6 years ago?

Use Vent Or Die

It is simple.  Every player should use vent or die in a fiery blast of lava from the Cataclysm.  Vent is to gaming as texting is to cellphones.  Everyone needs to get off their lazy you know whats, and setup the new server.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to set it up.

It just aggravates me right now that so many bloggers are in our Cataclysm guild, and I spend most nights in vent by myself.  Is it really that big of a hassle?  I am wearing my headset regardless of vent or not unless I forget to charge the stupid things.

Vent is so much easier to socialize, and get to know each other.  I don't know do most of the gaming bloggers out there have something to hide so they can't let others know their real identity?  It is alright Scarybooster we all know you are a chick with a stick.

Goblin and Worgen Race Changes Should Be Frozen

I don't know if it is just me, or not.  I would have preferred that they not allow any paid race changes for at least 90 days.  It just seems it is cheating to convert one of your other characters instantly into a Worgen, or Goblin the first day of Cataclysm.

How are you going to know all the ins and out of your race?  Isn't the whole excitement, and fun leveling a character through the new Goblin, and Worgen content?  Why skip a part of the game that will probably give you lasting memories?

So I am giving everyone who paid to change their race to Worgen or Goblin my middle finger.

Today Was The Final Straw

Ok.  I am probably pulling a Brett Favre right now, but I unsubbed again from Warhammer Online.  I try so hard to have fun in the game, but in the end I feel like I can't kill anyone in a crucial fight with my Bright Wizard.

I really thought joining a guild was going to be everything I dreamed about.  I figured we would have good strong warbands, scenario premades, or whatever.  I think I have tried at least a handful of the top rated guilds on the server, and each one has left me very disappointed.

The other day I joined my guild warband.  Of course it is actually only about ten of us.  Every time I turned around I was dying.  No one saying a word in vent even though about six of us were in there.  The healer was more worried about keeping a tank alive than the dps.  You can't kill anyone when all your dps are dead, and you have a tank just taking damage, but not putting any out.

This ordeal really left me irritated.  Later I heard the runepriest in the guild say he is single target heal specced so I assume he was picking one or two targets to heal.   It is pretty embarrassing to go in a city, and get rickrolled with a two group warband.  It amazes me that there was no strategy at all.  It was a joke.

The same thing with premade scenario groups.  It wasn't a premade.  It is basically six guys that joined the group.  No organization on vent, no one calling out focus fire names, no assisting, no guards on the right people, everyone just doing there own thing.  What does the rune priest say after we get slaughtered?  Destruction is so OP, and Order doesn't have a chance. Screw scenarios.

I rarely died in my guild on Dark Crag.  We knew our jobs, or we took orders from the guild leader or officers, and soon knew what our jobs were.  We didn't look like idiots out on the battlefield.

Today was the final straw though.  For one the patch has worn off.  People are already not logging in.  I think today the most we ever had on was about 6 players which is pretty sad compared to our full guild roster.  I couldn't do anything.  Every zone had no open warbands.  I tried just going out, and doing some 1 vs 1 but each time I died so fast.  I am no pro, but damn I should be able to kill someone once in a blue moon.

This is why the bonus renown sucks balls.  I started at 74 on Friday, and it should of been a piece of cake to get 75 with over 20 hours of playing time.  Of course not.  I am still over 150k away because we have been rolled in Orvr, and scenarios.  No Order zone flips for the most part.  My renown is slowly coming in because even if the bonus was 1000% if you aren't killing anyone you aren't gaining renown.  Every scenario was fifteeen minutes of wasted time.  You can only look at Destruction farming 15k renown, and Order barely has 350-500 renown.

The game is just pissing me off again, and it is better that I just go play Cataclysm for a bit.

Doomfist Crater Weekend

I have a love hate relationship with this scenario.  It is pretty simple.  If I am fighting in the middle I am having fun.  If I end up fighting off our spawn, or farming their spawn it isn't as much fun.

This has always been an AOE Bright Wizard's dream scenario in Warhammer Online.  I initially remember at launch when Bright Wizards could actually kill people with dots with ease in this scenario.  I saw bodies dropping one after another.  I literally lived in this scenario.

It wasn't soon after that Bright Wizards being nerfed was the topic in every forum.  Slowly these last two years our once OP class is now just renown fodder.  We can't kill players as fast as we used to be able to.

I am still blowing up many players in Doomfist Crater with Fireball Barrage, Focused Mind Moral with Fiery Blast.  I find myself having more fun in these scenarios solo than with my guild.

Fun Times In Kadrin Valley Tonight

Anyone on Gorfang can testify about the huge battle in Kadrin Valley tonight.  There were lots of Order claiming it was the best fight they have ever had in Warhammer Online.  I have to agree it was definitely a great battle.

The fight at the keep was fun.  I wasn't specced for AOE, but I still spammed it with focused mind.  I saw so many purple numbers it was just crazy.  I loved every minute of it.  Actually the fight lasted a few hours in KV, and once again it looks like no city will happening tonight.

I am not sure if I pissed off alot of destro with my AOE or what, but soon after I kept getting targeted by siege weapons, and no matter how hard I tried to hide I was getting one shot.  It is alright.  I am so +5 on so many players right now it doesn't matter, except for Hallu.

Is Patch 1.4 Good Or Bad?

I guess it all depends on who is answering the question.  I hear plenty of people in region chat complaining, but just as many telling them to just go back to World of Warcraft.  I am not sure what is wrong with me these days, but for the most part I have nothing negative to say.

I think the patch has been pretty smooth, and a few bugs here and there.  I was actually impressed that the new patch didn't reintroduce six bugs that they previously fixed like what usually happened in the past.  I think Warhammer Online as a game is really starting to come along.

I think patch 1.4, and the RvR packs accomplished what they set out to do.  It seems most players have put all their alts to the side, and are exclusively playing their mains.  It seems that there are fights around the clock.

The only downfall I see is all prior tiers practically died.  The introduction of the new tier levels seems to have had a huge effect on free trial players.  I have been running census since the patch, and rank 10 characters are not showing 10x the numbers of other ranks like it used to.

It could mean two things.  Either all the rank 10's were already current players, and with the patch they don't have to go to tier 1 to have fun.  It could be having a bad effect, and causing new potential subscriber to ragequit with nothing to do, or being outgeared by paying customers.

What is the good, and the bad about Patch 1.4 to you?

Renown VS. Honor

By now I think everyone knows the difference between renown, and honor.  Which system is better?  Would you rather grind renown, or honor to get the best gear?  Did Warhammer Online or World of Warcraft get PvP or RvR right?

Let's start with honor from World of Warcraft.  You can grind it in battlegrounds, or in world pvp.  You are limited to a maximum amount before you have to spend it.  Basically grinding honor gives you the second best pvp gear in the game.  Blizzard has basically made battleground gear the previous seasons arena gear.  The exception is is jewelry, and weapons.  They basically force you to play both which isn't a bad thing if you only like pvp in the first place.

The thing I hated the most about World of Warcraft PvP after arenas is you basically had to farm honor 2-3 times to get the best of the best, and of course rank in the top of arenas to get each seasons gear faster than anyone else.

In Warhammer Online you grind renown for most of your gear, and do scenarios for emblems needed to buy your weapons.  Scenarios are much quicker renown, and you are also earning emblems.  With the latest patch that no longer holds true.  Scenarios rarely pop so you are stuck trying to gain renown in Orvr.  The time played vs. renown gained ratio significantly reduces in Orvr.

I think World of Warcraft got PvP right for gear.  No matter how late you buy the game you are always just one tier of gear behind the old schoolers.  In Warhammer Online it is a different story.  They added multiple sets since introducing renown rank 100, but it still leaves anyone who recently hit rank 40, and renown rank 40 in a huge disadvantage.

Of course they boosted renown xp, and everything.  It helps a little, but you only gain the boosted renown xp if you are able to kill someone 2-3 times higher renown rank than you.  This renown curve will only get worse over time.

Just imagine in another few months with renown rank 100's roaming around.  Of course you are gaining additional renown to catch up, but a renown rank 40 player isn't going to fair very well against a premade of renown rank 100's.

This is where I think Warhammer Online is failing to keep eveyone pretty close to each other.  There is too much of a gap between renown rank 40, and 100.

World of Warcraft got it right by not ever letting a new person joining the game feel like it was impossible to gear up, and catch up with the same players who have been playing for five years.  You just can't keep adding renown ranks because eventually it will be impossible for a renown rank 40 to compete against a renown rank 200 two years down the road.

No player should ever feel that they can never catch up, and I am sorry but Warhammer Online is headed that way even with the boost.  The boost of renown means nothing if you get zero kills.

Do you see this eventually happening?  Should Warhammer Online introduce a more Warcraftish renown system to make sure all players can eventually catch up in a few months?  Do you believe old schoolers should always dominate, and it is there fault they just realized how fun Warhammer Online is?

I Took A Huge Step In Warhammer Online Today

How big is a huge step?  I find it pretty huge, and even a girl was overheard saying how huge it is.  So are you curious what it is?  It is something pretty simple, but also something that basically for the last year I played I never did.  Are you sure you are ready to hear about my huge step in Warhammer Online today?

I made the biggest decision of my gaming life.  I finally joined a guild on Gorfang.  Yes I did it.  I already feel that this is the guild I have been looking for since I left Dark Crag.  I already love the friendly guildmates, and I see this guild doing many things together.

In this past year I have been invited to so many guilds, and I see why Destruction dominates the server.  Most guilds don't use vent, have no forums, or website, no organization, and so much more.  I thought I would never find a guild that suited my play style, and needs.

Joining this guild made Orvr actually enjoyable again.  I will say it again.  It made Orvr in Warhammer Online enjoyable again.  I forgot how much more fun the game is when you are doing stuff as a guild.  It makes a huge difference in having fun while playing.

I think sometimes I blamed the game for my unhappiness, and bitterness when not being in a guild was probably the biggest reason I was always in a foul mood.  I look forward to playing with these guys, and it basically guaranteed that I will be playing Warhammer Online for a while.

Warhammer Online RvR Pack, and Patch 1.4 Experience Day 1

I really wonder about so many players that play the game.  Why aren't they more involved with the game?  I just don't understand how players who have been playing the game for two years don't read blogs, don't visit the forums, and lastly don't read the patch notes.

It just seems so crazy on how many uninformed players there are when a new patch hits.  I don't know maybe it is just all the Gorfang Order idiots running around that slow boils my blood.  I swear not one player knew how the new Orvr worked.  How can you as a player never go on the PTS, read any Warhammer Online blogs, the Bioware/Mythic forums, and basically play the game blindfolded?

Orvr was totally frustrating.  No one knew how to do anything.  I tried to give cliff note versions in region chat, but players were just idiots.  After one zone flip I decided I would just resort to my old ways, and just play scenarios all day, and night.

Unfortunately pugging scenarios was very frustrating also.  I am not sure how the matchmaking system works, but I think after doing about thirty scenarios I have a pretty good idea.  It seems I ended up being in a pug while up against all decked out RR80 players.  I would see them leave the scenario with 15k renown, and the Order players would be lucky to get 1k from being spawn camped by Gin and Jooz, W C W, Arsenal, and so many other Destruction Elite premades.

I than decided to participate in the Altdorf defense.  I either got lucky, or something because things went alot better inside the city.  I won a gold, purple, purple bag from each of the stages.  I racked up an incredible amount of renown.  I say if it wasn't for the city I would have possibly ragequit after one day of being back.

Losing is not fun.  I don't mind have a close fight, and losing.  The problem is premades are making my gaming experience unbearable by making my rage build up rather quickly by farming us over, and over.  I have never seen so many bad players on one server.  I am not a pro, but I could take the twenty worst players from WoW, and do better in a scenario with them.

First Glimpse Population Numbers For RvR Pack, and Patch 1.4

I did a quick Census of all the servers about an hour after the servers opened up live with patch 1.4, and the RvR packs.  Of course this is early for most servers, and will do some more later tonight as it gets to US peak hours to play.

The early numbers so far which only include one faction on each server.  Badlands 390, Gorfang 190, Iron Rock 214, Volkmar 140, Athel Loren 439, Carroburg 249, Drakenwald 440, Azgal 757, Norn 721.

I figure the numbers will really get rocking once everyone gets home to get the patch downloaded, and purchase the RvR packs.

Feel free to download the Census Addon, and help submit data.

My Warhammer Online Subscription Is Active Again

Today I took the big step, and reactivated my Warhammer Online account.  After a small break I am back.  I was going to wait for the RvR packs and patch 1.4, but I figured I better get back into the flow of the game before everything changes, and I am completely lost.

I will be on test today if I can get it downloaded before it begins.  I really want to try out the PTS with all the new changes so I am not completely in the dark when patch 1.4 and the RvR packs hit the game.

I still haven't decided if I should go back to my Bright Wizard, or stick with the Archmage.  I enjoy the Archmage more, but trying to grind 40 renown ranks to catch up may seem like a lifetime even with the boost.

I Hate Warhammer Online With A Passion

Why do I hate Warhammer Online with a passion?  I keep trying to kick this game to the curb like Wade Phillips of the Dallas Cowboys.  I was looking back this morning at my posts, and was thinking I finally beat the love-hate relationship with Warhammer Online by being unsubscribed for over a month.

I stopped even reading about the game.  I stopped reading almost every Warhammer Online Blog.  I stopped interacting with most on Twitter.  I thought I finally was going to be able to let go.  The problem is after reading Bootae's Twitter about the upcoming changes that Andy posted about acquiring gear, renown, gold bags, scenario matchmaking I want to play again. I blame Bootae for feeding my gaming addiction to Warhammer Online.  I bet right now Carrie, Andy, and the Warhammer Online Devs are probably laughing as they read this.  They probably had interoffice betting going on to see how long it took for me to come back to the game.

It is amazing that just a few simple changes to the game, and I want to play again.  These are changes I have been wanting to see for forever.  The problem is I have been out of the loop since unsubscribing so most of patch 1.4 will be overwhelming since I haven't kept up, or participated in any PTS events.

Now I have to make the decision on what character I want to play, and do I switch off of Gorfang.  It will be easy to finally gain renown with my BW, and it may revitalize my love for my first main.  I still love my Archmage though, but cranking out forty renown ranks, and acquiring all the gear will still be alot of work than gliding to 80 with my Bright Wizard.

So for now I will be coming back to Warhammer Online.  It will be nice to kiss and make up with all my fellow Warhammer Online bloggers, and the Warhammer Online Community on Wasdstomp.  I have to say I really missed visiting everyone's blogs, interacting on twitter, and all the comments here.

I am still going to post random stuff here on my blog, but I may have to figure out how to use the new page feature so people only see the content they want to see.

I Am Still In Love With Minecraft

I know, I know.  I am sure many of my readers figured I would fall in love with Minecraft, and two days later hate the game.  I had my doubts myself.  Lately every game that I thought was love at first sight ended up being one night stands.

Minecraft is in a world of its own.  I am really, really addicted to Minecraft.  How addicted to Minecraft am I?  Do you remember a few weeks ago when I said I was going back to World of Warcraft for Cataclysm on Dec 7th?

Minecraft has taken over my life.  I am no longer interested in any MMORPG.  I am not buying Cataclysm, Guild Wars 2, or SWTOR.  I think I finally found a game that makes me happy.  It is crazy that I stuck with Warhammer Online so long, and made myself miserable every day when everything about the game always pissed me off.  I have lost complete interest in any upcoming MMORPG.

Minecraft has changed my whole outlook on life.  I am finding myself much happier these days in real life.  I see it has affected my whole life.  It has been two weeks since I posted a negative story about my real life job on Dealing With Annoying Customers.  Is it coincidence, or did Warhammer Online cause so much rage that it reflected in all aspects of my life, and now with Minecraft I am just an overall happy person?

I Have Officially Quit Warhammer Online

I have been hinting at it the last few days, and I just want to make it official.  I will no longer be playing Warhammer Online.  I initially was going to play around with the free trial once in a while, but I think it is best that I put this game away for good.

It is definitely time.  I just couldn't see anything positive.  All I ever thought about was the negative aspects of any patch, rvr pack, hotfix, or whatever.  It isn't all bad, but my mind just flowed with negative thoughts about the game around the clock.

It was to the point that no matter what I was going to find something negative about any change.  It just isn't fair to the game, or anyone who may have randomly came across Wasdstomp.

Wasdstomp will be changing its focus to mainly Minecraft, and Cataclysm.

Skaven Or Worgen?

Skaven or Worgen is the question of the day.  Will the official release date of Cataclysm lure away the Skaven players to World of Warcraft to play Worgen?  Is playing a Worgen still better than the implementation of the Skaven in Warhammer Online?  Will patch 1.4, and the RvR packs keep players in Warhammer, and not jump ship to Cataclysm?

It isn't a tough question for me to answer.  I am no huge lore buff, and I just want to play a character that is different than most other classes.  So for me it is real easy to choose a Worgen over a Skaven.  I just want to play a class that looks cool.  I know a Worgen is a Werewolf, and Skaven are Rats, but  I want to actually have a character that I can progress from level one.

I know I will be able to play a Skaven in Warhammer Online, but it won't even be a real class.  It is basically going to be a temporary skin for RvR.  It will have no personalization, progression, or power which seems to be the focus of the RvR packs, but Skaven will have none of that.

I have already made my decision, and I am choosing playing a Worgen over a Skaven.    What is your choice?
