Vote For Your Favorite Video Games Of Each Era

Yesterday I ran across this link on my local news website, and found it very interesting.  The Smithsonian American Art Museum is going to be having a video game exhibit.  It spans from the 70's to the present.  They split it up into five eras starting with Space Invaders, and ending with World of Warcraft, and COD: Black Ops.

Being 44 years old it brought back alot of memories, but it also seems it missed alot of games I thought were good games in each respective era.  The best part is you can vote for what games you want to be shown in the exhibit coming up in March.    It has games from Colecovision, Sega, Intellivision, Atari, Commodore 64, and more.

What are you waiting for?  Register with just your email address, and start voting for you favorite video games for each era that you want to see represented.

What games do you remember that you think should have been included in the voting?

My Thoughts On Cataclysm

Okay.  So what do I think of Cataclysm now that I am in the Barrens?  It reminds me of when I was married, and I would come home to the furniture moved around in my house.  What do I mean by that?

I have to say I am pretty disappointed in the overall changes.  Of course alot has changed, but it really hasn't changed.  Basically all the quests are the same.  There are a few new ones, but for the most part if you were sick and tired of leveling alts through the lower zones it won't be much different even with Cataclysm.

I am basing my thoughts so far at only being level 12.  As I progress further I may think differently.  I stopped in the Barrens tonight, and really almost every zone looks the same with some minor changes.  It just seems they spread the quests out some more.  Every old quest still seems to be in the game, but it just moved to a different spot with maybe some minor changes.

I don't know, but when I think of Cataclysm I think of huge changes.  I think of Hurricane Katrina type of changes.  It just isn't that big of a deal.  The changes are probably more cosmetic, and anyone new to the game will probably love it compared to other players who have seen the same landscape for six years.

I am enjoying myself regardless.  I have always enjoyed grinding characters in World of Warcraft.  They make it easy to have multiple characters fully geared out.  The Latency Lowlifes are growing, and I look forward to having alot of fun in the game.

Goblin and Worgen Race Changes Should Be Frozen

I don't know if it is just me, or not.  I would have preferred that they not allow any paid race changes for at least 90 days.  It just seems it is cheating to convert one of your other characters instantly into a Worgen, or Goblin the first day of Cataclysm.

How are you going to know all the ins and out of your race?  Isn't the whole excitement, and fun leveling a character through the new Goblin, and Worgen content?  Why skip a part of the game that will probably give you lasting memories?

So I am giving everyone who paid to change their race to Worgen or Goblin my middle finger.

Is Patch 1.4 Good Or Bad?

I guess it all depends on who is answering the question.  I hear plenty of people in region chat complaining, but just as many telling them to just go back to World of Warcraft.  I am not sure what is wrong with me these days, but for the most part I have nothing negative to say.

I think the patch has been pretty smooth, and a few bugs here and there.  I was actually impressed that the new patch didn't reintroduce six bugs that they previously fixed like what usually happened in the past.  I think Warhammer Online as a game is really starting to come along.

I think patch 1.4, and the RvR packs accomplished what they set out to do.  It seems most players have put all their alts to the side, and are exclusively playing their mains.  It seems that there are fights around the clock.

The only downfall I see is all prior tiers practically died.  The introduction of the new tier levels seems to have had a huge effect on free trial players.  I have been running census since the patch, and rank 10 characters are not showing 10x the numbers of other ranks like it used to.

It could mean two things.  Either all the rank 10's were already current players, and with the patch they don't have to go to tier 1 to have fun.  It could be having a bad effect, and causing new potential subscriber to ragequit with nothing to do, or being outgeared by paying customers.

What is the good, and the bad about Patch 1.4 to you?

Building With Minecraft

My mind is about to explode.  The addiction is fierce already to Minecraft.  I can't stop thinking about it no matter what.  I haven't had this feeling for a game in a very, very long time.

I am operating today on a back to back shift at work today with literally no sleep.  I stayed up until 4am playing the game.  I figured I would go to bed, and catch a few hours of sleep before this long dreaded work shift.  Guess what happened?

I tossed, and turned almost the whole time.   I couldn't wind down.  I just kept thinking about Minecraft, Minecraft, Minecraft, and more Minecraft.  I have all these things I want to build in my world.  Every minute I keep imagining more stuff to build, and how I want my world to look.  My mind is going 500 mph right now.

My world map is going to be amazing when I finish it.  I have so many great ideas I sometimes don't even know where to start.  How am I going to control my time in Minecraft?  What am I going to build first?

I have so many things I want to build I had to start making a list.  Will I ever be able to complete my world, or will there always be something to build, or rebuild better?

This is what is so great about Minecraft there is always something to do.

My Instant Addiction To Minecraft

Do you want to know how addicting Minecraft is?  Right now it is 4am.  I should of been to bed hours ago.  It hooks you instantly.  I started playing it today, and easily logged in over 10 hours of play time.  The time flies by so fast you don't even realize it.

The game is so simple, but so addictive.  I could see spending thousands and thousands of hours just building a world.  The exciting part about Minecraft is every hour you play the world is growing, and prospering.  I don't think you could ever run out of things to do in the game.

Basically today I started off with my initial shelter for the first few days of the game.  The days are usually around ten minutes, and the night cycle is around seven minutes.  You can spend the day out wondering around, and exploring.  You spend the night inside crafting, and avoiding zombies.

I spent a huge chunk of time building my house.  I built a pretty huge house on top of a high mountain overlooking the valleys, and a body of water.  It is so breathtaking.

I will be spending several more days building my house, and arranging it just perfect.  I have so many ideas of things I want to do to my house before even doing other stuff in the game.

I made a short little video to show my first shelter, and the home I am in the process of building.

Skaven Or Worgen?

Skaven or Worgen is the question of the day.  Will the official release date of Cataclysm lure away the Skaven players to World of Warcraft to play Worgen?  Is playing a Worgen still better than the implementation of the Skaven in Warhammer Online?  Will patch 1.4, and the RvR packs keep players in Warhammer, and not jump ship to Cataclysm?

It isn't a tough question for me to answer.  I am no huge lore buff, and I just want to play a character that is different than most other classes.  So for me it is real easy to choose a Worgen over a Skaven.  I just want to play a class that looks cool.  I know a Worgen is a Werewolf, and Skaven are Rats, but  I want to actually have a character that I can progress from level one.

I know I will be able to play a Skaven in Warhammer Online, but it won't even be a real class.  It is basically going to be a temporary skin for RvR.  It will have no personalization, progression, or power which seems to be the focus of the RvR packs, but Skaven will have none of that.

I have already made my decision, and I am choosing playing a Worgen over a Skaven.    What is your choice?

What Class to Play In Cataclysm

After being years away from World of Warcraft I need to figure out what class I want to play on December 7th.  I haven't really kept up on the game so I am pretty clueless on what classes to play.  I have previously played a Paladin, Mage, Warlock, Priest, and a Druid.

I played my Priest the most, but after I made a Druid I told myself I would never play a priest again.  I literally ragequit playing my Mage about a week or two after hitting max level.  I hated my Pally, but at the time Pallies were the gimp, but I hear now they are pretty good.  I loved my Warlock, but I hated collecting shards all the time.  The decision seems easy to choose Druid.

That is where the problems start.  I can't play a goblin druid, and I played Horde most of my time in Warcraft.  Is it time I changed to Alliance, and played a Worgen Druid?  I just hate the thought of not knowing the Alliance side of the game very well, but with Cataclysm I probably won't know anything on the Horde side either.

A part of me wants to see all the new Horde zones, but I don't want to play any of the old race/class combos.  I want to experience a fresh new game.  It is probably going to be a decision I end up making the night I log in to Cataclysm.

Are most players going to play a Goblin, or a Worgen for Cataclysm?

Why I Am Buying Cataclysm On December 7th

It seems really strange that I am talking about buying Cataclysm.  The last time I ragequit World of Warcraft I told myself I would never go back.  I purposely tried to avoid any of the hype for Cataclysm.  I haven't read any updates on anything about the game.  I just know basically everything is changing, and it will be like a whole new game.

So why is it that they officially announce the release of Cataclysm today, and I can't stop drooling all over myself?  It is just crazy.  I just requested a weeks vacation starting December 7th.  How can just an announcement have me that excited about playing it again?  Am I still addicted to World of Warcraft, and the Cataclysm announcement just made me relapse?

Will it live up to my expectations?  My expectations are not really much.  I want to experience the game like old times in beta, and the first year or so after launch.  Those are the times I liked the most.  I enjoyed the world pvp, and it was always what made the game fun for me.

I just think Cataclysm is what is going to make world pvp fun again.  I remember the raids on the Barrens, the fights in STV, and Hillsbrad.  It is what I want back, and I think Cataclysm will breathe life back into the lower levels.  It will be like playing the game again for the first time.

I enjoyed having to watch my back every mob I attacked from opposing players wanting to gank me.  It is what pvp is all about.  The whole surprise factor of pvp is gone these days from most mmorpg's.

I look forward to playing Cataclysm non stop for a week.  Let's just hope my boss actually approves my vacation that week, or I might be in jail from doing some real pvp on him.

Sick And Twisted

What could be so sick, and twisted for a video game?  This game is pretty disturbing, but because it is you can't help from playing it over, and over to try to get the top score.  This game was featured in @Gamer Magazine which is made by Best Buy.

Basically the premise of the game is to push someone down the stairs, and the more broken bones, head bending backwards, legs twisting, and so on the more points you get.  I told you it was sick, and twisted.  The game is called Stair Dismount.

They also have another similar game called Truck Dismount where you basically crash a truck, and you are the crash test dummy.  Once again the game is sick, and twisted, but you know you want to play it over, and over.

It is available in several platforms including windows, mac, ipad, and an iphone.

RvR Pack 101: Keeps

It sounds like Keeps will be changing for the better. I have always thought that keeps should be more than just beating the doors down. It just seems like so much time was spent on these vast keep areas, and everyone just focuses on the doors.

My idea which is probably my favorite is to change keeps to a city siege type mechanic. Most of the inner keep areas are already like mini towns. Why not add objectives that you have to take inside for stage 1 of a keep take just like the first stage in the city?

Stage 2 entails protecting Warlords in the lower floor of the keep, and killing the other factions Warlords.

The Stage 3 would be a Keep Lord vs Keep Lord battle on the upper floor of the keep. Make player Champions just like the city siege so people get excited about being part of every keep take.

I would even be okay with making keep takes an instance inside of the Orvr lakes to make it so it works like the city siege.

Do you like the idea, or do you have another idea that you would like to see?

Blood Bowl

After spending this last week barely in Warhammer Online I decided it was time to try something new.  I ventured to the store looking for that one game to jump out at me.  I saw so many games, but none were really catching my eye.

Finally I saw Blood Bowl, and figured I have heard of it before.  What a surprise.  It is based on Warhammer.  I never knew that.  Anyways I am a huge sports fan, and after looking at the cover I decided to buy it.

I finished installing it, and rushed to try it out.  I soon realized it is not something you can just rush into.  I had no idea about anything, and failed miserably at trying to figure out.  The game seems simple enough, but I will actually read the manual tomorrow, and try it again.

Blood Bowl looks like it is going to be a really fun game, and a change of pace from my typical MMORPG.  How can you not like playing currently unplayable classes in Warhammer Online like Skaven, Lizardmen, and more.

I now see why players keep wanting those classes put into the game.  They are so cool looking compared to the normal boring players currently in the game.

Hopefully for the next few weeks I will be playing Blood Bowl, and getting good enough to try matches online with other players.

Anyone else play Blood Bowl, and willing to teach a rookie on the game mechanics?  Should I play real time or turn based?  Can someone help me figure out the player selection part?  If you can help me out please leave a comment below.

The Worst Thing To Eat While Gaming

What is the worst thing you have eaten while gaming?  What made it the worst thing?  Is your keyboard full of food spills, and crumbs?

I have to say my worst experience with food while trying to play games has been chicken wings after drinking alot.  I had hot sauce all over my keys, my desk, and I had to use my t-shirt as a napkin.

It seems that no food is really convenient when it comes to eating, and playing games at the same time.  Have you found one that works?
