If I Became Warhammer Online Producer

WAR Resurrection would be new Free RvR Pack to introduce F2P to Warhammer Online.

All current currency will be changed into one token system.  No more confusion.

Renown system revamp.  Earn RvR Spirits (1 pt per renown level) see Rift Souls for example

Servers are pvp race FFA.  It is no longer destro vs order.  Now each race can fight each other in Tier 5.  Now it is a six faction game to keep game balanced.

Each race now has access to each class from each faction.  You can now be a dwarf brightwizard.

City sieges removed from game.  Each city can now be invaded live (no instances).  Other missing cities added.

Scenarios removed from game completely.

Tier 4 caps at RR79, Tier 5 80-100

Remove diminishing returns on renown.  Equal distribution of renown to all group members in circle of renown.

RvR zones switched to AB style with keeps removed.  Must hold all 5 for 15 mins to lock zone.

No zone locking renown bonus.  Locking a zone now gives you temporarily 1 extra rvr spirit point, and takes away 1 rvr spirit point from losing race.

All rvr sets of armor removed from game

Introduce f2p cash shop.  no more crafting...all talismans, pots, etc purchasable in cash shop.

End game pvp set bought with new one token fits all currency system.

Skaven removed from game along with TI

RvR packs will now be free.

Guild levels removed from game.

Cross server rifts.  You can now join another server through a rift for an hour and have a little fun.

Warhammer Online Server Mergers Is Not The Answer

How many times have they tried server mergers, and eventually it gets down to the need to do it again?  When will they figure out it is the game mechanics, and if the game was fun to play there wouldn't be an issue with lack of population?  How do they put a positive spin on this?  How much longer till it is down to one server, and eventually the game dies?

I am sure all the fanboi's right now are celebrating.  It will be some good fighting for a month or so, and than Gorfang will be right back to where it was.  The answer to the game isn't increasing population by merging servers.

Gorfang will die off just like every other high population server in WAR.  It has happened since day one of server mergers.  Everyone gets excited.  Everyone loves pvp, and fights in the zone.  After a week or two one side is dominating the other faction so they go back to flipping zones in opposite pairings.  Players get bored again.  Some quit from always losing, and some after they realize it is the same old boring renown grind.

You have the others who quit because being farmed by RR90+ players in scenarios isn't fun.  Will there ever be RR based scenarios?  My guess is probably not.  If they are merging three servers they probably can barely get scenarios to pop normally.  Also with the merger it doesn't leave much room for argument about cross server scenarios because before long there will be only one server.

For me the game still has the core issues that probably drives more players away from the game than anything.   The gear gap from a RR40, and RR85+ is so huge.  Until they figure out that they only need 2-3 tiers of gear, and not eight players aren't going to stick around to gain little renown from being farmed by higher rank players.  It just isn't fun.

Secondly fighting needs to be locked to one pairing.  Letting players easily farm renown by flipping zones without any fighting is just stupid.  Where is the fun in RvE?

Thirdly TI is a joke.  Players waiting how long for this Skaven dungeon that was to be like Darkness Falls?  I remember going in there, and thinking this is it?

The server mergers just aren't going to work.  Remember when you would get frustrated at your current server, and reroll to a new one?  That option is basically dead now.  Your server options are getting less, and less so now instead of players rerolling they will just ragequit, and move to Rift.

Today Was The Final Straw

Ok.  I am probably pulling a Brett Favre right now, but I unsubbed again from Warhammer Online.  I try so hard to have fun in the game, but in the end I feel like I can't kill anyone in a crucial fight with my Bright Wizard.

I really thought joining a guild was going to be everything I dreamed about.  I figured we would have good strong warbands, scenario premades, or whatever.  I think I have tried at least a handful of the top rated guilds on the server, and each one has left me very disappointed.

The other day I joined my guild warband.  Of course it is actually only about ten of us.  Every time I turned around I was dying.  No one saying a word in vent even though about six of us were in there.  The healer was more worried about keeping a tank alive than the dps.  You can't kill anyone when all your dps are dead, and you have a tank just taking damage, but not putting any out.

This ordeal really left me irritated.  Later I heard the runepriest in the guild say he is single target heal specced so I assume he was picking one or two targets to heal.   It is pretty embarrassing to go in a city, and get rickrolled with a two group warband.  It amazes me that there was no strategy at all.  It was a joke.

The same thing with premade scenario groups.  It wasn't a premade.  It is basically six guys that joined the group.  No organization on vent, no one calling out focus fire names, no assisting, no guards on the right people, everyone just doing there own thing.  What does the rune priest say after we get slaughtered?  Destruction is so OP, and Order doesn't have a chance. Screw scenarios.

I rarely died in my guild on Dark Crag.  We knew our jobs, or we took orders from the guild leader or officers, and soon knew what our jobs were.  We didn't look like idiots out on the battlefield.

Today was the final straw though.  For one the patch has worn off.  People are already not logging in.  I think today the most we ever had on was about 6 players which is pretty sad compared to our full guild roster.  I couldn't do anything.  Every zone had no open warbands.  I tried just going out, and doing some 1 vs 1 but each time I died so fast.  I am no pro, but damn I should be able to kill someone once in a blue moon.

This is why the bonus renown sucks balls.  I started at 74 on Friday, and it should of been a piece of cake to get 75 with over 20 hours of playing time.  Of course not.  I am still over 150k away because we have been rolled in Orvr, and scenarios.  No Order zone flips for the most part.  My renown is slowly coming in because even if the bonus was 1000% if you aren't killing anyone you aren't gaining renown.  Every scenario was fifteeen minutes of wasted time.  You can only look at Destruction farming 15k renown, and Order barely has 350-500 renown.

The game is just pissing me off again, and it is better that I just go play Cataclysm for a bit.

RvE Is Back After Patch 1.4 Has Worn Off After Two Weeks

Yes.  You can say you heard it here first.   It wasn't too long ago that I wrote that after the newness of the Orvr changes wore off players would go back to their old ways.  Players aren't stupid, and will earn renown the easiest way possible.

It is happening exactly how I predicted.  What did I predict?  I predicted that players from Destruction, and Order would avoid each other in different zones to maximize renown.  Every player knows that with diminishing returns that a keep defense or zone defense is worth little renown after you have killed everyone 2-3 times.

Any player knows that maximum renown is acquired by flipping zones.  Why bother defending when you can earn ten times as much renown with a flip?

So what happened to all this great fighting in the zones again?  First players realized keep defenses and attacks are pretty boring now.  The Skaven are like new girlfriends.  After a week or two they are just like any other girlfriend.  The newness is gone, and it is just the same old stuff.

Players don't care about defending.  After all the crying about nerfed cities after sieges there is no penalty any longer if the other side wins.  No realm pride in the least bit.  Actually now in region chat you hear let them get to the city.  No one cares.  Everyone just wants there next three tiers of gear.

It is pretty sad to think we waited over two years for the RvR packs to breathe new life into RvR, and it lasted a whole two weeks.  What needs to be done to fix it?

I think really there is only one way to fix it.  Only one pairing unlocks at a time.  This ensures everyone is fighting in the same zone, and not Destruction in Dwarf, and Order in Empire.

As bad as it hurts there needs to be penalties for losing.  The problem in WAR is with two factions if one side always loses eventually everyone quits, and the server dies.  I know it is beating a dead horse, but a third faction needs to be implemented maybe into a Tier 5 zone.

Mailbox, and Keep camping are probably worse than before.  With all the resource ticks it is just too easy to hang out in either one, and collect renown without any fighting.

In Summary I think removing diminishing returns in Orvr will entice players to fight.  I would like to see the equal splitting of renown removed so if player a,b, and c kill a player they all receive full renown for that kill, and not 33% each.  The pairing lockdown I think also needs to happen.

What do you think about patch 1.4, and the RvR packs two weeks later?

2 on 2 City Siege on Gorfang

I somehow made it into the city for the third time barely, and the instance popped with only two players on each side.  I figured free stuff so why not finish it up.

On Destruction it was a Choppa, and a Chosen.  On Order it was an Engineer, and Bright Wizard.  I knew right from the start it wasn't going to be easy.

The fun started in stage 2.  I thought it would be easy to kill off one of the Warlords, but instead it was impossible.  They all met in the center, and even with our dps we couldn't seem to kill the Choppa, or the Chosen.  I kept trying to kill Grimrawr, but he just made me chop suey every time.  No matter how many dots, single target damage I did the guy just wouldn't die.

Now I didn't care how many times I died since it looked like I wasn't going to be killing anyone.  My sole mission was to make the city last as long as possible by pulling them off the Warlords.  It worked pretty good.  Vilerank, and Grimrawr finally won stage 2, but probably not as quickly if I would of just rolled over, and let them go crazy.

I was pretty excited about stage 3.  I figured we would all be champions, but for some reason only  Destruction did.  The engineer, and I both stayed in our normal state.  We just became that annoying bee at your picnic.  We just kept trying to dps them down, and pull them off the king.  It was working like a charm.  I couldn't get the engineer to focus the Choppa, but we stalled stage 3 until almost the timer ran out.

It was so close too.  Grimrawr, and Vilerank were both about two more spells away from losing Champ status, and we could of ended in a tie.  Oh well.  It was alot of fun, and I am sure it gave Grimrawr from Gin and Jooz something to talk about on vent.

Who says it isn't fun dying over and over to a Choppa?

I would like to hear from some other Bright Wizards, or Engineers on strats that would have used in the fight to win.

Doomfist Crater Weekend

I have a love hate relationship with this scenario.  It is pretty simple.  If I am fighting in the middle I am having fun.  If I end up fighting off our spawn, or farming their spawn it isn't as much fun.

This has always been an AOE Bright Wizard's dream scenario in Warhammer Online.  I initially remember at launch when Bright Wizards could actually kill people with dots with ease in this scenario.  I saw bodies dropping one after another.  I literally lived in this scenario.

It wasn't soon after that Bright Wizards being nerfed was the topic in every forum.  Slowly these last two years our once OP class is now just renown fodder.  We can't kill players as fast as we used to be able to.

I am still blowing up many players in Doomfist Crater with Fireball Barrage, Focused Mind Moral with Fiery Blast.  I find myself having more fun in these scenarios solo than with my guild.

Baby Steps Renown Rank 74

I swear it feels like I have been playing around the clock since the patch.  I see players hitting 80 like it is nothing.  I am starting to think my RvR pack didn't kick in the renown boost.

Anyways I hit 74 tonight, and should easily hit 75 this weekend.  My only plans outside of the game is to do some grocery shopping, and watch the Oregon Ducks play the final game of the season to clinch a spot in the National Championship game.

This should mean in the next three days I should log in at least 25+ hours of play time, and to be truthful it will probably be much more than that.

No cities again tonight, but some pretty good fights in Eataine, and Black Crag.  I am sure someone will finally have the manpower to push to the city this weekend, and I look forward to being lockout free, and getting lots of gold bags for each stage.

Fun Times In Kadrin Valley Tonight

Anyone on Gorfang can testify about the huge battle in Kadrin Valley tonight.  There were lots of Order claiming it was the best fight they have ever had in Warhammer Online.  I have to agree it was definitely a great battle.

The fight at the keep was fun.  I wasn't specced for AOE, but I still spammed it with focused mind.  I saw so many purple numbers it was just crazy.  I loved every minute of it.  Actually the fight lasted a few hours in KV, and once again it looks like no city will happening tonight.

I am not sure if I pissed off alot of destro with my AOE or what, but soon after I kept getting targeted by siege weapons, and no matter how hard I tried to hide I was getting one shot.  It is alright.  I am so +5 on so many players right now it doesn't matter, except for Hallu.

Is Patch 1.4 Good Or Bad?

I guess it all depends on who is answering the question.  I hear plenty of people in region chat complaining, but just as many telling them to just go back to World of Warcraft.  I am not sure what is wrong with me these days, but for the most part I have nothing negative to say.

I think the patch has been pretty smooth, and a few bugs here and there.  I was actually impressed that the new patch didn't reintroduce six bugs that they previously fixed like what usually happened in the past.  I think Warhammer Online as a game is really starting to come along.

I think patch 1.4, and the RvR packs accomplished what they set out to do.  It seems most players have put all their alts to the side, and are exclusively playing their mains.  It seems that there are fights around the clock.

The only downfall I see is all prior tiers practically died.  The introduction of the new tier levels seems to have had a huge effect on free trial players.  I have been running census since the patch, and rank 10 characters are not showing 10x the numbers of other ranks like it used to.

It could mean two things.  Either all the rank 10's were already current players, and with the patch they don't have to go to tier 1 to have fun.  It could be having a bad effect, and causing new potential subscriber to ragequit with nothing to do, or being outgeared by paying customers.

What is the good, and the bad about Patch 1.4 to you?

Welcome Back Dark Crag

Dark Crag is back.  No not the actual server, but the whole population of the server out in the lakes.  It reminded me of the Dark Crag days when I loved playing the game.  Did patch 1.4, and the RvR packs successfully get players fighting, and not hiding in PvE, or scenarios?

I think Warhammer Online hit a hole in one this time.  I heard many times in chat that scenarios were only popping once every 2-3 hours.  I think players were really enjoying the huge battles in Orvr.  I know at times Gorfang had over 350 visible players on Order logged in.  It made for some great fights yesterday.

Saturday I thought the campaign needed slowed down.  I think everyone was still playing the old way, and not out in the lakes.  City sieges were happening almost non stop.  A whole different story on Sunday.  Everyone had realm pride again.  No one was fighting in chat, or anything.

The battle in Praag lasted for hours.  Both keeps max rank, but no one could take it.  Everywhere you went there were fights.  No zone the whole day it seemed went quickly.  We had one early morning city siege, and that was it.  I think players have finally figured out the new RvR system.

How were the fights on your server?

Slowing Down The Campaign

I think everyone can agree on that the campaign currently is moving faster than prior to patch 1.4.  The new changes to Orvr was supposed to slow down the campaign.  Unfortunately it feels like the fast forward button is stuck down.

Yesterday on Gorfang I know we hit the city at least five times.  I know the new campaign is designed to even let a small group flip a zone, but you need something to slow it down.  Something needs to be added to at least make the faction defending have a chance to keep the zone from flipping.

I have heard many players suggesting to slow down the resources, and adding a keep lord back into the keeps.  I don't think either will solve the problem.  By adding a keep lord it will just be forts all over again.  Everyone will not fight, and just hole up into the keep.  I think we all know what happens after that.  Can you say zone crashes, and supply lines?

I think they need to implement stage 1 of the city into the Orvr zone.  I would change the objectives to how they work in the city.  Why not add siege weapons like in the city to destroy to be able to take the BO?  I would also add the Battle of Praag scenario mechanics into the campaign.

Basically both sides work towards the other factions warcamp taking each bo, and protecting it.  It can go back and forth like a tug of war.  Each BO taken ranks up your keep.  If you lose a BO than your keep deranks.

You must keep control of all four BO's before you can take the keep.  At any time the BO's can be pushed back the other way.  I think this would really slow down the campaign, and ensure that players are fighting each other.

You could also add another twist from the city stage 2, and make each BO have one Warlord, or resource carrier that must make it to your keep.  Each Warlord has the ability to attack the keep door on top of players using a ram.

What is your idea on how to slow down the campaign in Warhammer Online after patch 1.4?

I Took A Huge Step In Warhammer Online Today

How big is a huge step?  I find it pretty huge, and even a girl was overheard saying how huge it is.  So are you curious what it is?  It is something pretty simple, but also something that basically for the last year I played I never did.  Are you sure you are ready to hear about my huge step in Warhammer Online today?

I made the biggest decision of my gaming life.  I finally joined a guild on Gorfang.  Yes I did it.  I already feel that this is the guild I have been looking for since I left Dark Crag.  I already love the friendly guildmates, and I see this guild doing many things together.

In this past year I have been invited to so many guilds, and I see why Destruction dominates the server.  Most guilds don't use vent, have no forums, or website, no organization, and so much more.  I thought I would never find a guild that suited my play style, and needs.

Joining this guild made Orvr actually enjoyable again.  I will say it again.  It made Orvr in Warhammer Online enjoyable again.  I forgot how much more fun the game is when you are doing stuff as a guild.  It makes a huge difference in having fun while playing.

I think sometimes I blamed the game for my unhappiness, and bitterness when not being in a guild was probably the biggest reason I was always in a foul mood.  I look forward to playing with these guys, and it basically guaranteed that I will be playing Warhammer Online for a while.

Warhammer Online RvR Pack, and Patch 1.4 Experience Day 1

I really wonder about so many players that play the game.  Why aren't they more involved with the game?  I just don't understand how players who have been playing the game for two years don't read blogs, don't visit the forums, and lastly don't read the patch notes.

It just seems so crazy on how many uninformed players there are when a new patch hits.  I don't know maybe it is just all the Gorfang Order idiots running around that slow boils my blood.  I swear not one player knew how the new Orvr worked.  How can you as a player never go on the PTS, read any Warhammer Online blogs, the Bioware/Mythic forums, and basically play the game blindfolded?

Orvr was totally frustrating.  No one knew how to do anything.  I tried to give cliff note versions in region chat, but players were just idiots.  After one zone flip I decided I would just resort to my old ways, and just play scenarios all day, and night.

Unfortunately pugging scenarios was very frustrating also.  I am not sure how the matchmaking system works, but I think after doing about thirty scenarios I have a pretty good idea.  It seems I ended up being in a pug while up against all decked out RR80 players.  I would see them leave the scenario with 15k renown, and the Order players would be lucky to get 1k from being spawn camped by Gin and Jooz, W C W, Arsenal, and so many other Destruction Elite premades.

I than decided to participate in the Altdorf defense.  I either got lucky, or something because things went alot better inside the city.  I won a gold, purple, purple bag from each of the stages.  I racked up an incredible amount of renown.  I say if it wasn't for the city I would have possibly ragequit after one day of being back.

Losing is not fun.  I don't mind have a close fight, and losing.  The problem is premades are making my gaming experience unbearable by making my rage build up rather quickly by farming us over, and over.  I have never seen so many bad players on one server.  I am not a pro, but I could take the twenty worst players from WoW, and do better in a scenario with them.

First Glimpse Population Numbers For RvR Pack, and Patch 1.4

I did a quick Census of all the servers about an hour after the servers opened up live with patch 1.4, and the RvR packs.  Of course this is early for most servers, and will do some more later tonight as it gets to US peak hours to play.

The early numbers so far which only include one faction on each server.  Badlands 390, Gorfang 190, Iron Rock 214, Volkmar 140, Athel Loren 439, Carroburg 249, Drakenwald 440, Azgal 757, Norn 721.

I figure the numbers will really get rocking once everyone gets home to get the patch downloaded, and purchase the RvR packs.

Feel free to download the Census Addon, and help submit data.

Archmage Versus Bright Wizard

I am still undecided.  What class should I play?  I have love for my first main which is my Bright Wizard.  I love my Archmage too.  I just need to decide in the next few days which character I will play post patch 1.4, and the RvR packs.

It is a tough decision.  I go back and forth in my mind which one I should play.  Each class has things that make the class fun to play.  I just can't decide which one to play.

My Bright Wizard has basically seen it all.  I have so many memories with my main.  My Bright Wizard is renown rank 71, close to a royal scenario weapon, sovereign in the bank, and could be 80 probably pretty quick with the new bonus so I could right up there with everyone trying to get 100.

I hate alot with my Bright Wizard too.  I think we have been nerfed enough that I feel like I can't kill anyone one versus one.  I feel like I always need a pocket healer.  I just feel we have no crowd control to win a small fight.

My Archmage feels like a killing machine.  I feel I can take anyone on one versus one.  I love being able to heal myself, and dps without blowing myself up like my Bright Wizard.  I have fun playing her every time I log in.  The problem is my Archmage is under geared, and barely renown rank 40.

I am pretty excited about being able to buy some RvR gear to get started, and it should make me more competitive than before.  The renown bonus sounds pretty crazy, and I could be renown rank 80 pretty quick even though I am 40 right now.

I am leaning towards just playing my Archmage, and if patch 1.4 came out today I would be playing my Archmage.

My Warhammer Online Subscription Is Active Again

Today I took the big step, and reactivated my Warhammer Online account.  After a small break I am back.  I was going to wait for the RvR packs and patch 1.4, but I figured I better get back into the flow of the game before everything changes, and I am completely lost.

I will be on test today if I can get it downloaded before it begins.  I really want to try out the PTS with all the new changes so I am not completely in the dark when patch 1.4 and the RvR packs hit the game.

I still haven't decided if I should go back to my Bright Wizard, or stick with the Archmage.  I enjoy the Archmage more, but trying to grind 40 renown ranks to catch up may seem like a lifetime even with the boost.

I Hate Warhammer Online With A Passion

Why do I hate Warhammer Online with a passion?  I keep trying to kick this game to the curb like Wade Phillips of the Dallas Cowboys.  I was looking back this morning at my posts, and was thinking I finally beat the love-hate relationship with Warhammer Online by being unsubscribed for over a month.

I stopped even reading about the game.  I stopped reading almost every Warhammer Online Blog.  I stopped interacting with most on Twitter.  I thought I finally was going to be able to let go.  The problem is after reading Bootae's Twitter about the upcoming changes that Andy posted about acquiring gear, renown, gold bags, scenario matchmaking I want to play again. I blame Bootae for feeding my gaming addiction to Warhammer Online.  I bet right now Carrie, Andy, and the Warhammer Online Devs are probably laughing as they read this.  They probably had interoffice betting going on to see how long it took for me to come back to the game.

It is amazing that just a few simple changes to the game, and I want to play again.  These are changes I have been wanting to see for forever.  The problem is I have been out of the loop since unsubscribing so most of patch 1.4 will be overwhelming since I haven't kept up, or participated in any PTS events.

Now I have to make the decision on what character I want to play, and do I switch off of Gorfang.  It will be easy to finally gain renown with my BW, and it may revitalize my love for my first main.  I still love my Archmage though, but cranking out forty renown ranks, and acquiring all the gear will still be alot of work than gliding to 80 with my Bright Wizard.

So for now I will be coming back to Warhammer Online.  It will be nice to kiss and make up with all my fellow Warhammer Online bloggers, and the Warhammer Online Community on Wasdstomp.  I have to say I really missed visiting everyone's blogs, interacting on twitter, and all the comments here.

I am still going to post random stuff here on my blog, but I may have to figure out how to use the new page feature so people only see the content they want to see.

Warhammer Online Free Trial Experiment

The last week or two I have been playing around in Tier 1 with a free trial account.  I forgot how much fun Tier 1 is.  I just wanted to see how dominant I could be playing with all the restrictions put on free trial accounts.  I am amazed even with horrible gear how I am able to still kill lots of players.

The free trial is so easy.  It took no time at all to get to R10/RR10.  I have completed all my influence bars in PvE, and RvR.  I now just get to log in, and kill players all night long.  I mix it up a little bit with some Orvr, and scenarios.

So why am I enjoying it so much in Tier 1, but in Tier 4 I hate it so much?  It is pretty much the same thing.  I can't quite figure out why I have such different feelings for both parts of the game.

So for now I am seeing how much gear I can acquire in Tier 1, and having fun killing players in the process.  Eventually I may cheat a little, and send my character some stuff from my other characters, but for now I just want to see how competitive a free trial account can get.

Is Now Really A Good Time To Have A Re-Enlistment Campaign For Warhammer Online?

This re-enlistment campaign for Warhammer Online seems to be bad timing.  Why would you bring back players now before the big Orvr changes, and the RvR packs?

It only signals one thing in my mind.  Warhammer Online is bleeding subscriptions.  They keep saying the numbers are growing, but what is their definition of growth?

They are promoting all these things in there re-enlistment campaign to try to lure players back.  Of course none of it applies unless you haven't been subscribed for 90 days.

Lets look at all this more closely, and see why this campaign isn't going to bring any players back.  Most of the bullet selling points are over 90 days old.  This means most of the players have already experienced the new rvr city, the bloom, the apprenticeship, new starting journey in Empire, Underdog, War report, and Weekend Warfronts.

These players have already seen all this, and quit.  What a worthless marketing move by promoting old content as something new.  Why bring players back when you are just about to revamp the game?

Shouldn't this campaign be running after patch 1.4 goes into effect along with the RvR packs.  If you want to lure players back you have to offer them something that gets them excited about something new.  Anyone that has quit in the last 90 days has experienced all of it already most likely.

This should be their first clue that even after all these changes they are losing players.  You aren't getting these players back by offering the same old stuff.

Another laughable thing is they are promoting game performance, and stability.  They say it is fixed.  You don't have to be a rocket scientist to look on the Herald, and see Badlands issues almost every day.

They are also throwing in three in-game items.  Are they really worth it?  The signet turns you into a skeleton, but as soon as you take damage you return to normal.  The Libram of Insight is a CE rehash.  Basically you gain 15% to xp, renown, and influence for two hours with three charges.  The next is the arthritic hand.  It gives you 5 AP/sec regeneration for a whole 5 minutes with an hour cooldown.

All in all they aren't really offering much to entice players to come back, and I am sure it won't be very successful.

Would you be trying to bring players back before a big game changing patch, and rvr packs?

I Refuse To Drink The Warhammer Online Kool-Aid

Not only am I refusing to drink the Warhammer Online Kool-Aid, but also wearing any rose colored glasses.  Quite a bit of more information came out about patch 1.4, and the RvR packs, but I still don't see these changes fixing the game, or make it any more exciting.

Okay the first thing is how they keep mentioning they are not going f2p, but instead they figured with all the Warhammer Online Fanbois they could keep the $15 a month sub, and add micro transactions on top of it.

Do players really obsess that much on how their character looks?  Is it really worth $9.99 to change it.  It seems like a huge waste of money to me.

They keep talking about paid server transfers, but you can only go to servers that are low population.  What good is that going to be?  A transfer to Badlands maybe, but to pay $9.99 to move to another server whose population sucks just as much is just stupid.

Making vanity mounts equivalent to the starter mounts is pointless.  I guess maybe now more people will be hanging out in altdorf showing off their $10 horses.  I see no reason to buy one.

Vanity pets will have buffs.  Are you kidding me?  This is just the start of cash shop requirements to compete.

Who in their right mind is going to pay $10 for a War tract?  Basically one free level of xp for $10.  Obviously they don't read the powerleveling and gold spam in the advice channel.  I think they advertise 1-40 in 3 days for like $50, and they think someone is going to pay $10 for one free level.  Keep dreaming.

The new realm abilities announced sound very OP, and exploitable. What is going to keep a group from spamming Last Stand?  Be invulnerable for 47 seconds.  That is like an eternity in pvp.  So you die, and your other group member rezzes you.  Just get a core group rotating this, and see how much fun pvp will be when you can't kill anyone.  What if all the Bright Wizards exploit this during a keep defense when the other realm is trying to capture the flag.  Can you imagine the damage a Bright Wizard can invoke with a 47 second immunity?  Does that mean it protects it from blowing themselves up?  Who cares if you die 47 seconds later.  Just get 30 bright wizards doing it at the same time, and I guarantee there will be no destruction left standing, and than you just wait for your rez.

No name for this other one, but lets you use no AP for its whole duration.  I can already imagine the spamming of spells during this free spell frenzy.  You think you hate bright wizards, and Sorcs now just wait till some use this on you, and your faction.

The long awaited Orvr changes have been announced, and it didn't make me run to the account management page, and pay for a one year renewal.

Hypothetically this is going to open up the rvr, and spread it out throughout the zone.  Basically four bo's will supply resources to upgrade your keep.

Let's do some math.  With the excitement lets just say each faction has two warbands roaming in the lake.  One faction takes all four bo's.  This means at least a group will have to stay at each bo to protect it.  That leaves one warband left.  You will need at least one group per sapper from each bo.

This will leave your two warbands spread out really thin.  The other faction just waits outside your warcamp with both warbands to kill off the 6 man groups, and sappers.  You end up never being able to get resources while the other faction does no work, and steals your resources.

You try another strat by just taking one bo, and protecting it with one warband, and the other warband escorts the sapper.  The other faction decides to take the other three bo's.  You than have to decide how you are going to stop them.

I see it becoming a real joke.  If multiple pairings are still open which it sounds like it won't change the game at all.  It will just be a race to see who can collect resources faster, and lock zones.  There still will be no pvp.  Order will be in Praag, and Destruction will be in Thunder Mountain.

Aerial bombing supposedly will be fun.  Do you remember Thunder Valley Scenario being fun?  You could bomb in that scenario, and everyone hated it, but now everyone acts like bombing is going to be so great.

Another fatal flaw I see is the spawning in the keep.  It is going to make it nearly impossible to take down the keep door when defenders will be able to respawn right back at the keep.  How about suicide defense?  You can be out collecting resources, and than suicide to help defend the keep.  How are you going to get the first door down with basically the other faction having an unlimited supply of defenders respawning?

Also once you get the keep doors down, and the CTF goes into effect I am going to laugh when it boils down to almost the same thing in the day of the forts.  Basically all the defenders pack into the flag room.  Spread your bright wizard aoe's around, everyone else spam your aoe's on flag.  How is anyone going to be able to capture the flag for thirty seconds.  Can you say goodbye to any zone flips if defended?  Can you say zone crashes?  Can you say slideshow?

The whole Skaven implementation sounds like a waste of resources.  I don't see myself getting excited about playing them whatsoever.

In Summary the game will still be broken.  It will still be two realms.  It will still be no pvp as each faction will just be in different pairings.  I am sure the first week or two there may be some action as people try out all the new stuff, but as soon as players once again realize that renown is better when you just go to a different zone to get zone flips we will be right back to square one.

Any Warhammer Online Fanbois want to try to prove me wrong?
