Create Your Own Voice

I have another great article to contribute to the Newbie Blogger Initiative. It is really simple just make sure you create your own voice. Do not try to be like another blogger. Don't just post stuff that can be found on the official websites like news, and patch notes.

No one will visit your gaming blog if all you do is rush to be the first person to post the patch notes. I personally do not visit blogs that do this. If I want to read the patch notes I know where to go already which is the official URL of the game.

I go a step further in posting patch notes  I break down almost every change, and explain why it will, or won't work. This is what causes your readers to interact, and post their opinions. Unfortunately if you just post the patch notes with no commentary you will be very lonely on your blog.

You really need to create your own voice. You won't go nowhere if you just become a fanboi of the game.  No game is perfect, and don't pretend it is. I would avoid any invites, or special interviews from gaming companies. You will than become biased, and feel like you can never say anything negative about the game.

You can ask any of the gaming bloggers who are sponsors, and they will tell you that I am very negative usually about games  I won't deny it  I am very picky about the games I play, and I know that alot of dev eyes see my blog.  I just don't write to get attention. I feel that I post some pretty good information that devs should look at to improve their game.

You need to do the same. If you just post news announcements, and patch notes your gamng blog will die a very quick death. You will need to be very strong willed, and stand up to all the players who don't see it your way  You have to stand your ground  Do not give in.

I canniot stress enough about how important it is to have your own voice. You have to stand out from all the other bloggers. Be ready to have many bloggers block you. Unfortunately many bloggers are thin skinned, and any negativity they uncircle, unfollow, or whatever. Don't worry. For every uptight blogger that unfollows you about 10 more people will follow you.

Gamers want to know the truth. They don't want someone influenced by trips to the gaming headquarters, free copies of games, or whatever. I just say don't let the gaming companies control how you really feel about a game. I guarantee that players willl respect you so much more for telling them the truth about games than tricking them into wasting $50 bucks for a game.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me on the MMONBI forums, the comments below, or on social media.

Make Sure To Burn Your Gaming Blog to Feedburner

Do you want more readers to your gaming blog? Do you want to make sure they see your new content right away? Feedburner is one more way to grow your blog subscribers, and get more traffic to your gaming blog. I am currently one of over 70 gaming bloggers contributing their time, and helping new gaming bloggers with the Newbie Blogger Initiative. If you are thinking, or wanting tips from some of the veteran gaming bloggers on starting your own gaming blog than this is the best resource on the internet.

The process is pretty simple to do to burn your feed on Feedburner. Just visit the Feedburner site. It is as simple as entering your URL, and than playing around with some of the settings.

You want to make sure you set up a widget on your gaming blog with the subscribe button to make it easy for people to subscribe to your blog. This is all available directly on the feedburner site, and done automatically by following the simple steps.

One of my favorite settings is the automatic posting to Twitter of my blog posts along with hashtags. It makes it really easy. You can find it under the Social tab.

Basically feedburner puts your information out there for anyone to read, and share. It is a great way to get additional exposure that you wouldn't have received without. Feel free to subscribe to Wasdstomp.  If you have any questions, or need help setting it up just let me know.

Best Advertising For Your Gaming Blog

Are you looking to earn a few extra dollars on your gaming blog? Do you want the easiest, and best payouts? I have two different affiliate programs that I highly recommend. You could start earning money today. I wanted to share another great article for the Newbie Blogger Initiative.

I know you are probably thinking I am going to say to use Google Adsense. You are actually wrong. I initially tried this one, and the payout was horrible. Most clicks earn you only pennies, and you only get paid once you build up $100. It just isn't worth it in my opinion.

The first one that is actually worth it is WTFast which reduces game lag. The WTFast affiliate program actually has monthly residual income. It just isn't a one time click payout. If they keep using the product than you earn the payout every month which averages about $1.20.

It is similar in structure to Amway. You can not only sell there services for fixing lag, but you can get other affiliates under you, and they can get affiliates under them. The money just keeps rolling in. Your customer base grows every month for the most part so your income gets bigger every month.

I currently earn close to $200 a month just from this advertising alone. It isn't a huge chunk of money, but it definitely thickens the wallet a little bit. If you want to start advertising WTFast on your gaming blog than I can help you do that by following the link.

The second one I am just trying out recently. It is being a Go Daddy Affliate. It pays out 30% on every sale.  It's a good payout. I am not real sure if it is going to tie in on my gaming blog, but I figured with all the new bloggers they could get a domain for dirt cheap.

I personally think having a real domain is important. It just looks a bit tacky when a gaming blog has a .blogspot, or .wordpress at the end of their URL. If you need any help setting these two up I can help you add them to your blogger.

The Importance Of Social Media

Today I continue by helping new gaming bloggers get their foot in the door. We currently have over 70 gaming bloggers donating their time for the Newbie Blogger Initiative, and is the best resource for anyone thinking, or wanting to start their own gaming blog. The time is right to get started with a new gaming blog with so many new blockbuster games coming out like Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, and so many more. Players will be looking for places to spend time talking about their games.

I really want to stress to any new gaming blogger the importance of social media. It was probably one of the biggest things that created friendships, and a community outside of my blog. I will be mostly focusing on talking about Twitter, and Google Plus.

My first days of blogging I used Twitter. It was easy enough to use. I suggest making sure you visit many blogs, and follow them on Twitter. You can grow your list of people you are following by doing searches in Twitter. I found many of the people I follow, and than followed me back by doing Warhammer Online, Aion, and other searches directly in Twitter.

Once you get a good amount of people following you, and you following them it is time to start interacting. You can't be a lurker. You can't just spam your gaming website URL fifty times a day. You need to build friendships, and relationships with your Twitter community.

You may try posting something that may strike up a conversation, or reply to someone elses comment. It all starts from there. Once you start interacting than more people will start following you.

The one downfall of Twitter is it is limited to 140 characters, and almost impossible to keep track of conversations unless you are living on it 24/7. I can tell you that nothing comes easy, and you will have to put in a ton of time.

Later on Google+ was born. It is revolutionary. It became a great social media platform. You are no longer restricted to 140 characters. It is almost like a forum where you start a topic, and all replies are located within that topic.

It is very interactive, and almost feels like the people you are talking with every day really are true friends. I love Google+ so much.

The downfall is the comments directly posted on my blog have nearly dropped off to nothing. It is so much easier to keep the conversation going on Google+ that no one really posts comments on blogs any longer.

I hope this has helped you understand the importance of using social media for your gaming blog, and you can find me on Twitter, and Google+.

Newbie Blogger Initiative

I am pleased to be a part of the Newbie Blogger Initiative. Have you ever thought about writing your own gaming blog? Do you want to know how to get recognized? Do you need help setting up your blog? Do you have an idea on what you want to talk about? Do you want to make money on your gaming blog? Would you like to know my secrets of success? Over the next month I will post some very helpful articles to help you get your new blog off the ground. I will take the time to teach you about some important mistakes I made initially, and how you can avoid them. I will explain to you what works for me, and what failed.

If this is the first time you have discovered my blog than I welcome you. I will start by giving you a brief glimpse into how I began my gaming blog. I always was a huge game forums person. I enjoyed engaging with other players, and the relationships I built allies, and enemies in the game. I wanted to take it a step further. Unfortunately on forums your topics can easily be lost, and drop off very quickly. I wanted a better way to talk about the games I was playing.

I discovered my first gaming blog by visiting Werit's Blog. I liked what I saw, and decided I wanted to create my own Warhammer Online blog. In the next few days I created Warhammer Blog Times. It became pretty successful in my eyes as a newbie blogger. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I had about 35 views a day. I posted multiple times a day on some days, but eventually lost interest in playing the game and writing about it.

I moved on to a new blog I created called Aion Tavern. I initially loved the game, and once again my blog was pretty successful at the time. I was drawing a whole new crowd of viewers who were interested in Aion. This blog didn't last very long. The horrible grind in the game made people leave the game in droves.

Once again I was stuck without a blog again. It was after these two initial blogs that I realized I needed to make a general gaming blog so I could talk about any game, and not have to rebuild my viewership every time. My blog is a little over two years old now, and I have talked about many, many different games I have played. My daily traffic is more than I ever dreamed it would be so create your new gaming blog today, and join the community.
