Today I continue by helping new gaming bloggers get their foot in the door. We currently have over 70 gaming bloggers donating their time for the Newbie Blogger Initiative, and is the best resource for anyone thinking, or wanting to start their own gaming blog. The time is right to get started with a new gaming blog with so many new blockbuster games coming out like Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, and so many more. Players will be looking for places to spend time talking about their games.
I really want to stress to any new gaming blogger the importance of social media. It was probably one of the biggest things that created friendships, and a community outside of my blog. I will be mostly focusing on talking about Twitter, and Google Plus.
My first days of blogging I used Twitter. It was easy enough to use. I suggest making sure you visit many blogs, and follow them on Twitter. You can grow your list of people you are following by doing searches in Twitter. I found many of the people I follow, and than followed me back by doing Warhammer Online, Aion, and other searches directly in Twitter.
Once you get a good amount of people following you, and you following them it is time to start interacting. You can't be a lurker. You can't just spam your gaming website URL fifty times a day. You need to build friendships, and relationships with your Twitter community.
You may try posting something that may strike up a conversation, or reply to someone elses comment. It all starts from there. Once you start interacting than more people will start following you.
The one downfall of Twitter is it is limited to 140 characters, and almost impossible to keep track of conversations unless you are living on it 24/7. I can tell you that nothing comes easy, and you will have to put in a ton of time.
Later on Google+ was born. It is revolutionary. It became a great social media platform. You are no longer restricted to 140 characters. It is almost like a forum where you start a topic, and all replies are located within that topic.
It is very interactive, and almost feels like the people you are talking with every day really are true friends. I love Google+ so much.
The downfall is the comments directly posted on my blog have nearly dropped off to nothing. It is so much easier to keep the conversation going on Google+ that no one really posts comments on blogs any longer.
