I have another great article to contribute to the Newbie Blogger Initiative. It is really simple just make sure you create your own voice. Do not try to be like another blogger. Don't just post stuff that can be found on the official websites like news, and patch notes.
No one will visit your gaming blog if all you do is rush to be the first person to post the patch notes. I personally do not visit blogs that do this. If I want to read the patch notes I know where to go already which is the official URL of the game.
I go a step further in posting patch notes I break down almost every change, and explain why it will, or won't work. This is what causes your readers to interact, and post their opinions. Unfortunately if you just post the patch notes with no commentary you will be very lonely on your blog.
You really need to create your own voice. You won't go nowhere if you just become a fanboi of the game. No game is perfect, and don't pretend it is. I would avoid any invites, or special interviews from gaming companies. You will than become biased, and feel like you can never say anything negative about the game.
You can ask any of the gaming bloggers who are sponsors, and they will tell you that I am very negative usually about games I won't deny it I am very picky about the games I play, and I know that alot of dev eyes see my blog. I just don't write to get attention. I feel that I post some pretty good information that devs should look at to improve their game.
You need to do the same. If you just post news announcements, and patch notes your gamng blog will die a very quick death. You will need to be very strong willed, and stand up to all the players who don't see it your way You have to stand your ground Do not give in.
I canniot stress enough about how important it is to have your own voice. You have to stand out from all the other bloggers. Be ready to have many bloggers block you. Unfortunately many bloggers are thin skinned, and any negativity they uncircle, unfollow, or whatever. Don't worry. For every uptight blogger that unfollows you about 10 more people will follow you.
Gamers want to know the truth. They don't want someone influenced by trips to the gaming headquarters, free copies of games, or whatever. I just say don't let the gaming companies control how you really feel about a game. I guarantee that players willl respect you so much more for telling them the truth about games than tricking them into wasting $50 bucks for a game.
