Orcs Must Die Lost Adventures DLC First Impressions Review

Currently Orcs Must Die by Robot Entertainment is my favorite game.  Last week they released another DLC called Lost Adventures.  It adds five new maps starting with Double Trouble, Reverse Tower, The Pit, Triple Down, and Great Gorge.  You also get a new trap called Mana Well.  Some new frost mobs, and some mage cyclops have been added too.

The first map Double Trouble starts off with Orcs coming from two different directions to get to the rift in the center.  You have to be able to use the portals to quickly get to each side, otherwise it is impossible to kill them fast enough.  You also have several overhead bridges that have boiling acid pots that you can dump over on to the Orcs.

The second map Reverse Tower may look a little familiar from the original Orcs Must Die.  It is exactly the same, but the Orc entrances, and the rift have swapped.  The Orcs now start at the top of the tower, and work their way down to the bottom.  You also have to deal with flying frost bats coming down the center.  I love this map from the original game. The rolling log is the coolest thing in the game. Once you release it from its holder it rolls down the stairs, and makes pancakes out of hundreds of orcs.

The third map in Lost Adventures is The Pit.  You have three Orc entrances.  One is down in the pit, and two are at rift level.  It gets pretty intense trying to control orcs going down two hallways to the rift in the back center.  The barricades seemed very useful in this map, but seemed to slow down the killing waiting for them to walk back the other way.

The fourth map is Triple Down.  The Orcs enter from three entrances up two flights of stairs.  It makes it difficult trying to maneuver through hallways to kill Orcs coming from down from all three places. Once again barricades helped a little, but the sheer amount of Orcs in these new maps has made the difficulty ten times harder.  You also have a ballista looking gun at the bottom, but I find it pretty inefficient compared to using chain lightning, or fire bracers.

The fifth, and final map is Great Gorge.  I am struggling to succeed at this map.  You have Orcs, bats, and Ogres coming from every direction.  There are so many different routes the Orcs can take that you can't possibly have enough archers, and traps to keep them at bay.  It is going to take some time to actually figure out a strategy to five skull this particular map.

Overall the Lost Adventures DLC for Orcs Must Die is worth the money.  I have already invested over 75 hours into the game already.  The best money I have spent on a game this year.  If you love tower defense games than you are really going to love Orcs Must Die.  It is my Game of the Year in my eyes, and highly recommend buying it.
