Orcs Must Die 2 Is Disappointing

I was really looking forward to Orcs Must Die 2 after having so much fun playing Orcs Must Die.  Unfortunately the challenge just isn't there.  I breezed through the whole story in less than six hours.  I guess maybe I am just an expert now, and it made it easy this time around.

I think Co-Op makes the game way too easy.  The last level was the only challenge, and that is because the person I co-oped with kept getting confused on which side was his.  Once he figured out which side was his we breezed through it with no problems.

Where are all these bonus levels from owning Orcs Must Die?  Am I missing it somewhere?  It is sad that after six hours I am already five skulling all the Warmage levels before moving on to the Nightmare level.  Will nightmare even be a challenge with two people?

There is definitely something missing in Orcs Must Die 2.  I haven't even had to use most of the traps like I did in Orcs Must Die.  It really takes the fun out of the game.  I basically use the Paladin, and Arched guardians with a few arrow walls, and tar.  This is my whole arsenal for every level.  I have no need for the other 45 traps in the game.  It shouldn't be this way.

I miss all the cool traps I used in the original Orcs Must Die.  There just isn't a need for strategy any longer.  I remember the days when I would have to use, and decide which traps for each level were going to be the best.  It was trial and error, and took multiple times before being able to complete a level.  I can now basically complete any level the first time.  No strategy needed.

It isn't even challenging.  I remember in Orcs Must Die always being only a few left getting into the rift before being defeated.  In Orcs Must Die 2 if you go AFK you may accidentally let a few into the rift, otherwise it is a piece of cake to complete any level.

The second time through trying to five skull every level used to be very challenging.  I remember doing some levels 25+ times before getting a five skull.  In Orcs Must Die 2 I am getting five skulls just my second time of doing the level.  It is that predictable, and easy.

Anyone else think the game is lacking the same challenge as Orcs Must Die originally did?  Are you also flying through the game with no problems?  I am curious to hear what others think about the game.

Orcs Must Die Lost Adventures DLC First Impressions Review

Currently Orcs Must Die by Robot Entertainment is my favorite game.  Last week they released another DLC called Lost Adventures.  It adds five new maps starting with Double Trouble, Reverse Tower, The Pit, Triple Down, and Great Gorge.  You also get a new trap called Mana Well.  Some new frost mobs, and some mage cyclops have been added too.

The first map Double Trouble starts off with Orcs coming from two different directions to get to the rift in the center.  You have to be able to use the portals to quickly get to each side, otherwise it is impossible to kill them fast enough.  You also have several overhead bridges that have boiling acid pots that you can dump over on to the Orcs.

The second map Reverse Tower may look a little familiar from the original Orcs Must Die.  It is exactly the same, but the Orc entrances, and the rift have swapped.  The Orcs now start at the top of the tower, and work their way down to the bottom.  You also have to deal with flying frost bats coming down the center.  I love this map from the original game. The rolling log is the coolest thing in the game. Once you release it from its holder it rolls down the stairs, and makes pancakes out of hundreds of orcs.

The third map in Lost Adventures is The Pit.  You have three Orc entrances.  One is down in the pit, and two are at rift level.  It gets pretty intense trying to control orcs going down two hallways to the rift in the back center.  The barricades seemed very useful in this map, but seemed to slow down the killing waiting for them to walk back the other way.

The fourth map is Triple Down.  The Orcs enter from three entrances up two flights of stairs.  It makes it difficult trying to maneuver through hallways to kill Orcs coming from down from all three places. Once again barricades helped a little, but the sheer amount of Orcs in these new maps has made the difficulty ten times harder.  You also have a ballista looking gun at the bottom, but I find it pretty inefficient compared to using chain lightning, or fire bracers.

The fifth, and final map is Great Gorge.  I am struggling to succeed at this map.  You have Orcs, bats, and Ogres coming from every direction.  There are so many different routes the Orcs can take that you can't possibly have enough archers, and traps to keep them at bay.  It is going to take some time to actually figure out a strategy to five skull this particular map.

Overall the Lost Adventures DLC for Orcs Must Die is worth the money.  I have already invested over 75 hours into the game already.  The best money I have spent on a game this year.  If you love tower defense games than you are really going to love Orcs Must Die.  It is my Game of the Year in my eyes, and highly recommend buying it.

Orcs Must Die Is The Best Tower Defense Game

I loved Orcs Must Die at Pax.  These last few months have seemed like forever waiting for it to be released.  It takes tower defense games to a whole new level.  It feels like a real game, and not some tower defense game you download for your smartphone.

What makes Orcs Must Die so much fun?  Actually several things.  The first part is it is like a third person shooter.  You have an archer that shoots a crossbow, and you can headshot Orcs all day long.  It took me a few hours before I figured out the slower you shoot the better aim you have.  I get headshot after headshot now, and it just makes it fun.

It than has the tower defense mechanics.  You can buy several different kinds of traps.  These traps are just awesome if you love watching Orcs splatter all over the place.  You initially just start of with a spike square, a tar pit, and an arrow wall.  Just watching Orcs fall into these traps, and get slaughtered is so much fun.

As you advance levels you can upgrade current traps to make them do more damage, trigger faster, shoot farther, and so on.  You also get a new trap every level.  Some of them just make you laugh inside when you see them in action.

Some of my favorites is the Wall Grinder.  It is literally saw blades that come out, and slice Orcs into a million pieces.  I also like the Spring Trap.  It makes Orcs go flying, and if you set them by the lava it is just hilarious to watch.

You also get this swinging mace that hangs from the ceiling that swings back and forth, a pounder that smashes Orcs to the ground, a decoy that looks like you that explodes, a brimstone lava rock that burns up Orcs, and so much more.

After advancing quite a few levels you get Weavers which is sort of like a special talent tree.  You either pick the Weaver that affects weapons and spells, or you pick the Weaver that will enhance your traps even more.

The game involves strategy also.  The Orcs can come from different entrances, and also can use portals to sneak around, and try to get to the rift.  The game is very challenging as you try to set traps, and figure out the best way to keep the Orcs from escaping to the Rift.

I played this game for over 7 hours yesterday, and loved every minute of it.  I would highly recommend buying it.  It is priced at less than $15 bucks so it is a steal.  It is worth every penny.
