This question keeps popping in my head lately. I used to love PvP. Why does it frustrate the heck out of me now? Why does PvP just not seem as fun any longer? Am I just getting too old for PvP?
Lately I have been testing for a game in beta that is centered around PvP, and I just want to ragequit. Have I lost my patience? Have I lost my touch? Should I just stick to PvE? It just seems lately that no matter what I end up in a pug that is a bunch of noobs. Can't players these day read objectives? Do players these days have their own agendas?
I think the biggest thing that has ruined PvP is scoreboards, leaderboards, or whatever you want to call them. It makes players want to do their own thing instead of working as a team. It is just frustrating to me. In the vanilla WoW days it was all about teamwork, and guild pride. These days it is all about I had the most damage, or I outhealed all of you.
Do I just need to find some like minded PvP players, and create a premade? I am still not sure if PvP is still my thing. I am not getting any younger these days, and I am sure my reflexes have slowed down since my DAOC, and early WoW days.
Would I enjoy it with a bunch of friends on vent even if we win or lose? I think that may be the secret to loving PvP. In prior games I always had a group of friends to PvP with, and had no problem working together on vent. It just seems I have lost the ability to make friends online in games like I used too.
I think when I play SWTOR I am going to play on PvE server, and see if maybe I enjoy it more these days than PvP.
It is weird though I still have the itch to try PvP games. I still want to try out Primus, and L2 once it goes free to play.
