I have always enjoyed beta testing games. The thought of being able to change the game for the better has always motivated me to turn in feedback, and bugs. A few days ago my feelings on beta testing got sour. What made me suddenly feel like beta testing is a waste of time?
It was an article being shared on Google +. Once the game gets within a few months of launch the beta testers could be playing a build that is a few months old. I understand they may not want people to see certain things in the game, but I think it is wasting beta testers time.
Why even submit bug reports if the bugs in the latest version are already fixed? How much feedback, and bug reports get filed into the circular file because it is no longer an issue? How much time did someone use to write a bug report that ends up just being an old fixed bug?
Why not at least post known issues that you know are already fixed, or in the process so beta testers aren't wasting their time submitting it? Why not be upfront, and say you are here for stress testing only?
How many players are they losing by letting them play a bug filled old build? What do you think about it? Join the discussion, and leave your comment on G+.
