With the most recent announcement that in patch 1.3.6 players will be able to play both factions on the same server makes me scratch my head. Why are they doing it?
A few reasons have crossed my mind some good, and some bad.
Are they thinking of merging servers again, or possibly clustering the remaining servers? Right now many players have multiple 40's on different servers, and another server merge with the current rules would force some people to have to delete characters.
Will it cause cross realming exploitation? How long is the lockout timer going to be? I am not to worried about someone logging on one faction to get the other factions plans. That already happens with the free trial accounts, or separate accounts.
I am talking more of city attacking/defending exploitation. What if you are currently locked out of the city rewards with your order character, and push the city with your Destro toon since he currently has no lockouts.
Will it ruin realm pride? I think it will. No one likes to lose, and if you can hop onto the winning side every night why wouldn't you?
Is it going to make players log in to the winning side every night? It will definitely make it alot easier for players to jump on the side that is winning that night. It may even make the population balances even worse than they are eventually when everyone has a 40 on both sides.
Could it be what Warhammer needs? I think I wouldn't mind killing a bunch of people I hate on Order right now. It could be really motivating, and make the game fun again. It may make some players decide to play the underdogs, and boost the losing realm.
It could also be the rumored third faction coming into the game. It would let players create a new toon, and still play with players they know on the server. It also goes back to most players have characters on every server, and if a third faction gets introduced it would limit some players from playing it without having to delete one of their characters.
