Today I saw this article about legislation trying to be passed in Oklahoma to pay an additional 1% sales tax on violent games. This is the craziest thing I have heard of in a long time. Why are we voting in legislators who are submitting such absurd law changes?
I hate when people assume that violent games, rap music, or whatever causes people to become violent. It is the biggest cop out. I really doubt any game causes someone to go out, and commit crime. Why not find out the real root cause of it?
How are they going to define violent? Every MMO is violent, FPS, RPG, and so on. Are there really any games that aren't violent? Why are they singling out gamers?
I am sure alcohol, drugs, and other stuff causes more violence than games do. Are you willing to pay an additional 1% for your games even when the money goes to victims of violence?
