I have been playing Realms Online for the last month or two, and the grind makes Aion's grind seem like cupcakes. It has been the most frustrating part of the game. I just want to enjoy the RvR three faction pvp, but I am stuck grinding my way to 60.
Realms Online is F2P, but so far I have sunk almost $200 into the game in just two months. I still have about $75 left to spend in the cash shop. It sucks because now that I am back to work I don't really have the time to grind out five million xp per level to reach level 60.
I can buy xp booster packs from 100% up to 500% which helps, but it still seems like forever. Today they just announced a level 60 scroll. It costs just a little over 100 bucks, but your character instantly gets level 60, and five million gold.
I figure since I have already put in over a hundred hours of grinding, and spent $200 that this 60 scroll is the best thing to happen to the game. There is one catch though. You have to grind out one character to 60 first, and than any alts can get instant 60 with the scroll.
I think it is a great idea. I have never liked the idea of grinding alts, and now Realms Online just made it easy. How many times have you grinded out max level, and realized your character sucks, and you end up rolling another character? At least now you don't have to waste half of your life away grinding.
I really hope some other MMO's take advantage of this in the future, but I doubt it. They are to worried you won't keep subbing every month if you aren't spending months grinding. I say the opposite happens too. How many people stop subbing because they hate their current character, but cannot stand to grind one more character to max level?
